This is an Intermediate to Advanced workshop. Participants should have a working knowledge of Photoshop.

This is a full-day seminar designed to teach complete workflow for creating exhibition/gallery quality digital fine art color prints.

Daily Schedule
  • 9:30 am to 12:30 pm : Morning Session
  • 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm : Lunch (not included in price)
  • 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm : Evening Session 1
  • 3:30 pm to 3:45 pm : Coffee Break
  • 3:45 pm to 5:30 pm : Evening Session 2

What you Will Learn:

  • Viewing and discussion of examples of color prints in preparation for teaching start-to-finish workflow.
  • Getting it right in the camera: creating color digital captures that will be used for printing, from 8x10 up to very large sizes.
  • Using Adobe Photoshop, teach the process used to custom edit digital color images and prepare them for successful printing. Setting up Photoshop to support color editing, using color profiles, and managing multiple images, or versions of images.
  • Editing your images using Photoshop tools, including but not limited to filters, presets, adjustment layers, speed retouching, and more. Customize tonal values, image density, highlight and shadow details, etc. Demonstrate using still life, landscape, and portrait images.
  • Scanning your film using desktop scanners – settings and customization. Handling scans and color management issues.
  • Importing scanned images into Photoshop, edit and customize as needed
  • Evaluating images on screen (soft proofing using custom ICC profiles on a calibrated display) for final output. Using custom adjustments and print variations facilitated by soft proofing for color and image details.
  • Choosing output media, photographic and fine art, for printing. Understanding printer color palette and gamut, and how they related to image quality.
  • Teach the complete process needed to make fine art prints from a correctly prepared image file. This includes methods for creating proof prints that facilitate successful final
    prints. Includes use of paper/printer ICC profiles and using the Photoshop printer dialog and the appropriate printer driver.
  • Create prints live. Evaluate final prints for quality.
