Eliot Cohen
Eliot Cohen was the Program Head for Photography at Northern Virginia Community College (Loudoun Campus) for 21 years. He received NVCC’s highest award for his teaching excellence. Eliot was also a member of the adjunct faculty at the Corcoran School of Art. Now working independently, Eliot is active as a photographer, illustrator, and teacher. In addition to his Washington area classes, Eliot teaches digital photography workshops nationally and internationally.
In his work for clients such as the National Park Service, USDA, Fannie Mae, the Smithsonian, and others, his skills as a photographer and Photoshop artist come into play. Eliot is called on to create illustrative work from his own photography or from existing photographs. He is often asked to undertake major projects that involve remaking or revising existing images. He works on images at sizes up to 25 feet. Renowned for his patience and clarity as a teacher, Eliot’s classes are popular and highly praised. His current classes in Photoshop and digital photography are comprehensive and well organized. The depth of his understanding and ability to explain complex procedures in a logical manner complement his patient approach.
